Special Educational Needs
Our school SENCO is Miss Robyn Oakes. The SENCO has a critical role to play in ensuring that children with special educational needs and disabilities within a school receive the support they need. It is the SENCO's job to oversee and coordinate support for children who need extra input to enable them to achieve; this involves working with teachers, children, parents and other agencies.
Shining Together, We Reach for the Stars
What does this mean?
Our school provides a broad and balanced curriculum for all children. Some children have individual learning needs, which could create barriers to learning. Teachers are trained to recognise these and make additional provision to support these pupils to enable them to participate effectively in the curriculum and make good progress, reaching for the stars in their learning and believing in themselves- having aspiration!. Special educational needs and/or disability may be experienced by an individual either throughout or at any time in their school career. Children with special needs often have low self-esteem and so it is so important that we support them to feel a sense of hope, we do this by 'shining together', being part of a culture of togetherness and support.
What is ELKLAN?
Elklan is a speech and language approach to support children with speech, language and communication needs. We are developing this role within school through training to best support the children who need speech and language support.
